Upcoming Programs

Whoooo's that sitting on a branch? Paint along with Pop up Art School to create this naturalistic owl. Learn how to create wings and feathers that look textural. Finish the painting off with a sprinkling of stars in the night sky. This program is for ages 13+ and registration is required. Space is limited!

Extraordinary maker activities from paperclips, cardboard, dowels, paper cups, craft sticks, and other ordinary stuff.

Kids build basic structures for their own artful mechanisms that send messages, tell stories, or accomplish tasks. As they build according to instructions, they are also beginning to conceive and create their own designs to overlay those structures. That process in turn may lead to modifications of the structures. Engineering informs design, and vice versa.

For ages 5+, younger children may need help from their adult during the program.

Focusing on animals that live in the Summer Star Wildlife Sanctuary, staff from the Center for Wildlife will provide an in-depth introduction to the unique differences between raptors, reptiles, and mammals. Do snakes have fur? Do rabbits have scales? Are birds "cold-blooded"? Why do opossums have pouches? How do each of these animal groups adapt to our changing seasons? Using their amazing non-releasable animal ambassadors and interactive displays, the answers to these and other questions will be revealed. This program will connect the audience with these beautiful ambassadors of their species as well as provide their natural and personal histories and empower audience members to help to steward the environment that we all share.

Open to all ages, but space is limited so registration is highly encouraged!

Summer Reading Book Clubs for Teens and Adults

Registration is open for our summer reading book clubs! Each month this summer, adults and teens will read a book that matches the theme Read, Renew, Repeat, and then we’ll come together to discuss what we thought about the book. Readers can sign up for one month, or for all three. Once you register, we will request a copy of the book on your behalf.

Our summer reading program is running until August 15th. Find more information about how to participate at berlin.cwmars.org/summerreading.
