Saturday 6/20 @ 1:30pm: StoryWalk Grand Opening: Join us at Berlin Meadows for the grand opening of the Berlin StoryWalk®! We will walk along the path of the story, and along the way we’ll learn nature facts and answer questions inspire by the story. Our first story is If You Plant A Seed by Kadir Nelson. After the walk, AJ Moses from the Conservation Commission will help you plant your own seeds that you can watch grow over the summer!

Monday 6/22 @ 10am: Storytime: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Mondays. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play to start the day. All children are welcome, but storytime is best for ages 0-5.

Monday 6/22 @ 5pm: Summer Reading Kick Off with Animal Adventures: Join Animal Adventures for a fun hands-on experience as we invite children of all ages to learn about, and pet, a variety of different animals!

After the show, come to the service desk to register for another exciting Summer Reading Program. Our theme this year is “Plant a Seed, Read!” You can pick up your reading logs and instructions, learn about our prizes and events, and choose some books to get you started.

Tuesday 6/23 @ 12pm: Noontime Tales: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Tuesdays. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play in this afternoon extravaganza. All children are welcome, but storytime is best for ages 0-5.

Tuesday 6/23 @ 1-3pm: Drop-in Tech Help: Drop by for basic computer navigation, basic smartphone and tablet use, general internet instruction, and how to use electronic library resources (like Libby).

Tuesday 6/23 @ 6pm: Growing Beans & Garlic: Emily Makrez, owner of F-Word Farm will teach us all about her obsession with beans – how beautiful they are (she has grown over 60 kinds!), how to grow them, why they are good for us and the soil, and ways to use them. Emily will also talk about another favorite to grow: garlic. Learn how to plant, harvest, cure and store them, some useful preserving tips…even how to perennialize them!

Wednesday 6/24 @ 12pm: Lunch and Learn Homeschool Group: Homeschoolers and their families can get together to play and talk. We will work on various projects throughout the year. Come to play, network, learn, and create. Facilitated by our youth services librarian, Hadley Roberts, who was a homeschool parent for many years. Ages 5-12 welcome.

Thursday 6/25 @ 4pm: Crazy 8s Math Club: Have fun learning math through hands-on games and activities in this 8 session program for grades 3-5! 

Thursday 6/25 @ 6:30pm: Thursday Evening Book Club: Join us to discuss Shanghailanders by Juli Min. Beginning in the year 2040 and moving backward through the present to 2014, Shanghailanders takes readers into the world of each of the Yangs, as well as the people in their orbit—a nanny from the provinces, a private driver with a penchant for danger, and a grandmother whose memories of the past echo the present. Along the way, Juli Min shows how a family makes and remakes itself over the years: what unites us and slowly drives us apart.

Monday 6/29 @ 3pm: Little Innovators, Big Dreams: Join local high school students for this exciting STEM workshop! Students ages 7-10 are welcome to come for experiments and science fun.

Wednesday 7/1 @ 11am: Español es Divertido: Join Miss Hadley at this program for early elementary school students. Students will gain exposure to beginning vocabulary using music, art, and movement for a playful introduction to the Spanish language.

This program is designed for children ages 5-10. Siblings are welcome but must be supervised by their parents/guardians.

Thursday 7/9 @ 1pm: Beaded Succulents: Make a succulent plant that will last forever. Use wire, beads, and creativity to create your own everlasting art piece. Teens ages 13-17 welcome.
