Saturday 6/6 @ 10am: Friends of the Library Book Sale: The Friends of the Berlin Public Library will be holding their annual book sale. All proceeds are used to support library programs and services like the museum pass program. A variety of materials will be available for all ages at affordable prices.

Saturday 6/6 @ 12pm: Donut Prints: Use pool noodles and paint to make layered prints of delicious donuts. For ages 5-10.

Monday 6/8 @ 10am: Storytime: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Mondays. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play to start the day. All children are welcome, but storytime is best for ages 0-5.

Tuesday 6/9 @ 1-3pm: Drop-in Tech Help: Drop by for basic computer navigation, basic smartphone and tablet use, general internet instruction, and how to use electronic library resources (like Libby).

Wednesday 6/10 @ 12pm: Lunch and Learn Homeschool Group: Homeschoolers and their families can get together to play and talk. We will work on various projects throughout the year. Come to play, network, learn, and create. Facilitated by our youth services librarian, Hadley Roberts, who was a homeschool parent for many years. Ages 5-12 welcome.

Thursday 6/11 @ 5pm: Needle Felted Birds: Celebrate the arrival of Spring by making a needle felted baby bird. All materials provided. Ages 10+.

Monday 6/15 @ 7pm: Virtual: "Lost: Amelia Earhart’s Three Mysterious Deaths and One Extraordinary Life" with author Rachel Hartigan: We love learning and mysteries and so this is one we're really looking forward to! Join author Rachel Hartigan as she discusses her book, "Lost: Amelia Earhart's Three Mysterious Deaths and One Extraordinary Life". Unravel one of history's greatest mysteries in this spellbinding narrative exploring three leading theories of Amelia Earhart’s tragic disappearance. We're sure we all have our ideas on what could have happened to Amelia Earhart so we hope you'll join us for this fascinating conversation!

Thursday 6/18 @ 4pm: First Chapters Book Club: Explore some of our favorite first chapter books. We will be discussing Zoey and Sassafras: The Pod and the Bog by Asia Citro. In this sweet science-filled story, Zoey and Sassafras find a mysterious glowing seed pod. Children ages 5-9 and their grownups can come discuss their favorite chapter books, make crafts, and explore some exciting activities around each book and genre. 

Saturday 6/20 @ 1:30pm: StoryWalk Grand Opening: Join us at Berlin Meadows for the grand opening of the Berlin StoryWalk®! We will walk along the path of the story, and along the way we’ll learn nature facts and answer questions inspire by the story. Our first story is If You Plant A Seed by Kadir Nelson. After the walk, AJ Moses from the Conservation Commission will help you plant your own seeds that you can watch grow over the summer!

Monday 6/22 @ 5pm: Summer Reading Kick Off with Animal Adventures: Join Animal Adventures for a fun hands-on experience as we invite children of all ages to learn about, and pet, a variety of different animals!

After the show, come to the service desk to register for another exciting Summer Reading Program. Our theme this year is “Plant a Seed, Read!” You can pick up your reading logs and instructions, learn about our prizes and events, and choose some books to get you started.

Tuesday 6/23 @ 6pm: Growing Beans & Garlic: Emily Makrez, owner of F-Word Farm will teach us all about her obsession with beans – how beautiful they are (she has grown over 60 kinds!), how to grow them, why they are good for us and the soil, and ways to use them. Emily will also talk about another favorite to grow: garlic. Learn how to plant, harvest, cure and store them, some useful preserving tips…even how to perennialize them!

Thursday 6/25 @ 4pm: Crazy 8s Math Club: Have fun learning math through hands-on games and activities in this 8 session program for grades 3-5! 

Thursday 6/25 @ 6:30pm: Thursday Evening Book Club: Join us to discuss Shanghailanders by Juli Min. Beginning in the year 2040 and moving backward through the present to 2014, Shanghailanders takes readers into the world of each of the Yangs, as well as the people in their orbit—a nanny from the provinces, a private driver with a penchant for danger, and a grandmother whose memories of the past echo the present. Along the way, Juli Min shows how a family makes and remakes itself over the years: what unites us and slowly drives us apart.
