At the end of March, we will be holding a Mini-Art Fest to celebrate Vincent Van Gogh’s Birthday! Throughout the month, pick up a postcard from the library to use as your canvas. Paint it, color it, make a collage, get creative in anyway that speaks to you. Then bring it back to the library, where we will put it on display on March 31st!
Monday 3/9 @ 10am: Storytime: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Monday mornings. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play to start our week.
Tuesday 3/10 @ 12pm: Noontime Tales: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room to read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play.
Tuesday 3/10 @ 1-3pm: Drop-in Tech Help: Drop by for basic computer navigation, basic smartphone and tablet use, general internet instruction, and how to use electronic library resources (like Libby).
Wednesday 3/18 @ 12pm: Lunch and Learn Homeschool Group: Homeschoolers and their families can get together to play and talk. Facilitated by our youth services librarian, Hadley Roberts, who was a homeschool parent for many years.
Thursday 3/19 @ 4pm: First Chapters Book Club: Explore some of our favorite first chapter books. We will be starting Orris and Timble: The Beginning. Children ages 5-9 and their grownups can come discuss their favorite chapter books, make crafts, and explore some exciting activities around each book and genre.
Tuesday 3/24 @ 6pm: Gardner Museum Heist: HAS ANYONE SEEN $500 MILLION IN ART LYING AROUND? An hour after 1990 St. Patrick’s Day, two men dressed as Boston cops entered the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, stayed for 90 minutes and left with 13 pieces of art. None of the priceless items have been found although one was seen. No one has been charged. The museum continues to post a $10 million reward. This presentation will review Isabella’s role in the theft, details about the suspects, and the motives behind the world’s most valued art theft. Bob Ainsworth, CPA and author, will also tell of his many brushes with the infamous crime.
Monday 3/30 @ 10am: Egg Hunt: Come ready to participate in an egg hunt in the library's backyard. There will be crafts, fun, and finding! The egg hunt will take place inside the library in the event of poor weather.
Monday 3/30 @ 5pm: Iris Paper Folded Cards: Iris Folding is a paper craft technique that involves folding strips of colored paper in such a way to form a design. Instructions and materials provided to make cards for birthdays, upcoming holidays, thank you cards, or any occasion. Learn new techniques, create useful objects, and craft with us. For ages 9-16.
