Monday 5/18 @ 10am: Storytime: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Mondays. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play to start the day. All children are welcome, but storytime is best for ages 0-5.
Tuesday 5/19 @ 12pm: Noontime Tales: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Tuesdays. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play in this afternoon extravaganza. All children are welcome, but storytime is best for ages 0-5.
Tuesday 5/19 @ 1-3pm: Drop-in Tech Help: Drop by for basic computer navigation, basic smartphone and tablet use, general internet instruction, and how to use electronic library resources (like Libby).
Tuesday 5/19 @ 1pm: Young Scientists: Children, ages 3-6 with a parent/caregiver, will learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, storytime, challenges, and simple experiments in this weekly STEM series facilitated by STEM Beginnings. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to help their child and join in the fun each class! Siblings are welcome and must be supervised. Registration is required.
Thursday 5/21 @ 4pm: First Chapters Book Club: Explore some of our favorite first chapter books. We will be discussing Dragon Tales by Dav Pilkey. Children ages 5-9 and their grownups can come discuss the book, make crafts, and explore some exciting activities around each book and genre.
Tuesday 5/26 @ 7pm: VIRTUAL: Sounds Like Trouble To Me -- A Legal Thriller Inspired By True Stories: Author Jean Trounstine will discuss her new novel, "Sounds Like Trouble to Me," in conversation with Angelia Jefferson, a formerly incarcerated freedom fighter and now a participatory-defense transform-harm coordinator at Families for Justice as Healing.
Wednesday 5/27 @ 12pm: Lunch and Learn Homeschool Group: Homeschoolers and their families can get together to play and talk. We will work on various projects throughout the year. Come to play, network, learn, and create. Facilitated by our youth services librarian, Hadley Roberts, who was a homeschool parent for many years. Ages 5-12 welcome.
Thursday 5/28 @ 4pm: Crazy 8s Math Club: Have fun learning math through hands-on games and activities in this 8 session program for grades 3-5!
Thursday 5/28 @ 6:30pm: Thursday Evening Book Club: Join us to discus Loot by Tania James. Abbas is just seventeen years old when his gifts as a woodcarver come to the attention of Tipu Sultan, and he is drawn into service at the palace in order to build a giant tiger automaton for Tipu’s sons, a gift to commemorate their return from British captivity. His fate—and the fate of the wooden tiger he helps create—will mirror the vicissitudes of nations and dynasties ravaged by war across India and Europe.
Monday 6/1 @ 5pm: Brush Hour: No skills required painting day. We will have examples, paint by numbers, and paint-a-longs with all materials supplied. Ages 12-18 welcome.
Thursday 6/4 @ 6pm: Board Game Night: Bring a favorite game to share with new friends, or come ready to learn a new board game. All are welcome at this monthly program!
Saturday 6/6 @ 10am: Friends of the Library Book Sale: The Friends of the Berlin Public Library will be holding their annual book sale. All proceeds are used to support library programs and services like the museum pass program. A variety of materials will be available for all ages at affordable prices.
Saturday 6/6 @ 12pm: Donut Prints: Use pool noodles and paint to make layered prints of delicious donuts. For ages 5-10.
