Saturday 5/24 and Monday 5/26: CLOSED for Memorial Day. There will be no story time this week
Wednesday 5/28 @ 5:30pm: Garden Party Story Time: Join us for a relaxing and educational evening. Come dressed in your pajamas, if you wish. Bring your favorite stuffed friend and a blanket and get cozy. We'll celebrate the arrival of spring by reading garden related stories, making a springtime craft, having a snack, and play together.
Thursday 5/29 @ 6:30pm: Thursday Evening Book Club: Join us for a discussion of The Strange Case of Jane O. by Karen Thompson Walker. Copies of the book are available at the library.
Monday 6/2 @ 11am: Story Time: Bubbles: Join Ms. Hadley in the Children's Room on Monday mornings. We’ll read some stories, make some crafts, sing, groove, and play to start our week.
Tuesday 6/3 @ 2-4pm: Drop-in Tech Help: Drop by for basic computer navigation, basic smartphone and tablet use, general internet instruction, and how to use electronic library resources (like Libby).
Tuesday 6/3 @ 6pm: The Cottage Garden of Earthly Delights: Humble Stories in Food and Legend: When you think of magical foods in fairy tales, you probably don’t think of cabbages. And while you may associate garlic with vampires, did you know that corn helped fuel the vampire craze? Or that turnips are surprisingly controversial. Take a stroll with folklorist and author Varla Ventura through the kitchen garden as we discover the remarkable history and lore behind common vegetables. This program will take place at 19 Carter.
Wednesday 6/4 @ 6pm: Community Board Game Night: Get together with a gaming master to learn some new board games. Or, if you want to share one you and your family love, bring it in a box labeled with your name. Everyone is welcome!
Saturday 6/7 @ 10am: Friends of the Library Book Sale: The Friends of the Library will hold a book sale to raise funds to support the library's programming. There will be books for all ages available for low costs. This is a great way to stock up on your reading list for the summer! Kids who visit the book sale and sign up for summer reading will also get 1 free book of their choice! Please note this was previously scheduled on June 14th and has since changed dates.
Tuesday 6/10 @ 1pm: Obstacle Course: Ages 3-10 can come and navigate an obstacle course and master new challenges. Run, jump, bend and balance. Get some exercise and have some fun with us.
Wednesday 6/11 @ 11:30am: How To Use Kanopy: Learn how to use your library card to create an account on Kanopy, find movies and TV shows to watch, and manage your account.
Thursday 6/12 @ 6pm: YA Book and Activity Club: Join other teens to talk about adventure and survival novels. After registering for this program, you can pick up a themed kit from the library. The day before the program you will receive the link for the Zoom meeting, during which you can chat and use your kit to explore the topic using games, art, questions, and more.
Tuesday 6/17 @ 5:30pm: Cardboard & Lego City: Do you love to construct? This program combines two favorite building materials into one exciting program with a different themed challenge each time. Children ages 5-10 can use either Lego or cardboard, safe tools, and tape to build an innovative creation in this once a month montage of fun.
Saturday 6/21 @ 2pm: Puzzle Race: Join us for a suspenseful afternoon of competitive puzzle assembly that is fun for everyone. Patrons can sign up in teams of between 2-6. All teams will be given the same puzzle and then they will race to see who completes it first! All are welcome to join in the fun. No prizes will be handed out for this event. Glory is its own reward. We will provide the puzzles, you bring the brains!
We are closed Saturday through Monday for Memorial Day, but our digital collections are available 24/7. Check out some e-books from Libby or watch a movie honoring Memorial Day with Kanopy.
New Take & Make kits available now! First come, first serve. Stop in the library to pick up a kit.
